Why Solar Power?

1. Companies locally incorporated under the Companies Act 1965 with solar systems installed are qualified to apply for Investment Tax Allowance or Pioneer Status withincome tax exemption. Under the Budget 2011 announcement: this incentive will be extended for applications received until 31 December 2015.

2. Energy from sunlight is abundance and Malaysia is blessed with consistent sunlight all year round. Hence, more power output can be generated from the system.

3. Solar energy is sustainable energy. By using Solar Photovoltaic (PV) to generate electricity for your home you aren't depleting the planet of anything that it needs and nor are you pumping out any nasty by-products such as carbon dioxide.

4. The residential Solar Photovoltaic (PV) hardly needs any maintenance once it has been installed. Also, it last for a very long time as compared to other sources of electricity generation that needs regular monitoring and heavy maintenance. If you are a business using it, you gain trust by being environmental friendly and receive additional tax deduction benefits from government for using the clean power.

5. Implementation of Feed in Tariff (FIT) System in Malaysia benefits house owners who utilize solar system. Feed in Tariff is a policy mechanism which allows users tosell back the additional electricity generated from PV System to TNB, with a higher rate ranging from RM 1.20/kWh to RM 1.75/kWh.

Pro & Cons of Green Computing in Malaysia

As a Malaysian, we have been encouraged to support the green technology and green computing.

All things that we do have their own pro and contra itself. Below are the advantages and the disadvantages of using the concept of "Green Computing"

Advantages :

• Reduced energy usage from green computing techniques translates into lower carbon dioxide emissions, stemming from a reduction in the fossil fuel used in power plants and transportation. 

• Conserving resources means less energy is required to produce, use, and dispose of products. 

• Saving energy and resources saves money. 

• Green computing even includes changing government policy to encourage recycling and lowering energy use by individuals and businesses. 

• Reduce the risk existing in the laptops such as chemical known to cause cancer, nerve damage and immune reactions in humans. 

Disadvantages :

• Green computing could actually be quite costly. 

• Some computers that are green may be considerably underpowered. 

• Rapid technology change

Green computing is all the rage, but what does the term really mean?

Being environmentally friendly isn’t a trend, it's a major movement. And like other aspects of business, the IT world is greening up fast.

It seems that everywhere we look, “green computing” is being touted as the next big eco shift. Considering the reach of technology, it’s not surprising that IT would be ripe for green strategies. But what does green computing mean for small-business owners?

Techopedia.com  give the definition of Green computing:

"Green computing is the environmentally responsible and eco-friendly use of computers and their resources. In broader terms, it is also defined as the study of designing, manufacturing/engineering, using and disposing of computing devices in a way that reduces their environmental impact".

They also put the explanation on Green Computing

• Green computing, or green IT, aims to attain economic viability and improve the way computing devices are used. Green IT practices include the development of environmentally sustainable production practices, energy efficient computers and improved disposal and recycling procedures. 

We are the residence of Malaysia and somehow we have our responsibilities in managing this Green Computing.

Do we have this kind of activities in Malaysia actually? we should carry out this in our country because it will show our support towards environmentally technology use :D

Instead of using technology, we must know to use it efficiently because it will be useless if we do not practice Green Computing while we love to follow the development of technology
